This interactive workshop will provide information on preparing early for the next round of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Grants. At this training, representatives from Mid-Atlantic TAB, PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and EPA will be available to answer questions on the application, assessment, and cleanup process; getting your AAI in order now; the power of a debrief; and tips on building a compelling story that will lead to a successful redevelopment project.

Vacant. Dilapidated. Abandoned. Derelict. Eyesore. Blight. These types of properties are in every community, sometimes for decades. It may seem impossible to fix up brownfield sites, but that is a myth. Take the “can’t” out of “vacant" because rehabilitation is possible! And with help from EPA’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) provider, redevelopment is easier than ever. 

Brownfield projects can take a long time and run into multiple barriers – not just questions of environmental contamination. For project champions and community leaders, it can feel like they are working alone, without much support, or like no one else has ever encountered the same issues before. Bring Your Own Brownfield (BYOB) is designed to connect project champions with experts in the field as well as peer project leaders to discuss their projects, identify potential resources or next steps, and build community across geographies.

The National Brownfields Training Conference brings together stakeholders from government, industry, and the community to share knowledge and best practices on the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties, known as brownfields. The conference features a range of sessions, workshops, and networking events that cover topics such as financing, liability, and community engagement, with the goal of promoting the cleanup and revitalization of contaminated sites across the United States.  The Brownfields 2025 conference will be held in Chicago, IL.
