In this webinar, Mid-Atlantic TAB brings in historic preservation experts Meredith Dreistadt (WV State Historic Preservation Office) and Mike Gioulis (Historic Preservation Consultant in WV and the surrounding region. Many of our historic resources are within downtown historic districts, or are considered historic on their own and may fall into the category of brownfields. These types of resources are often located in industrial facilities but can also be present in much smaller, commonplace buildings as well. Rehabilitation projects often encounter environmental issues, requiring the integration of brownfield programs with historic preservation approaches. This is an introduction to brownfields in a historic preservation context, including related financial incentives, developing a capital stack, overview of Section 106 regulations, and a variety of examples to inspire your redevelopment projects.
