Mapping Websites
Google My Maps has a user-friendly interface and can assist communities with tracking where their past, current, and future projects are occurring. Google My Maps allows you to mark places with customizable points, lines, and polygons, the ability to get basic measurements and sharing/printing capabilities.
Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool (RAPT) is an accessible mapping tool with 1,000+ preloaded data layers. From NOAA and NWS Weather Hazard Outlooks to Census Tracts and National Risk Indexes communities can now assess their region from a mapping point of view. They can enhance their understanding with drawing points and lines, gathering coordinates, and conduct analyses like population counter. The RAPT tool also has a 63-page user guide!!
Demographics and Resilience Data with Mapping Interfaces
The Census My Community Explorer uses census survey data in an interactive map and dashboard focused on disaster, economy, and demographic data. This website is powerful if you want visuals on the census statistics of a specific region as it also cites what census survey the mapped dashboard is pulling its data from.
CDC PLACES Interactive Map is a great tool for understanding CDC Health data such as obesity, cancer, disabilities, health risk behaviors and more. This can be an asset in understanding and comparing your community to the state-wide and even national-wide averages.
Environmental Justice Index (EJI) is an index created by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) which is a federal agency under the US Department of Health and Human Services. The index tracts environmental and public health data at a county and sub-county scale and provides mapped visuals as well as the option to download the data report for visualization.
NACo County Explorer is focused at a county level to track census data and create on demand reports to view charts and other visuals to compare to state-side data and other counties.
