WVU TAB began as a partnership between three programs at West Virginia University: the Brownfields Assistance Center at WVU, the WVU School of Public Health, and WVU Community Engagement Lab. Beginning in 2021, they collectively served U.S. EPA Region 3 as the TAB regional provider, supporting communities across the region in locally-driven brownfield redevelopment through education, grant training, project design support, and other targeted assistance.
After receiving an additional $5 million in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding, the TAB provider expanded services under the Mid-Atlantic TAB banner with additional partners from other institutions. The WV Brownfields Assistance Center at Marshall University, the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration, and the Community Design Assistance Center at Virginia Tech joined the team in 2023.
