Maryland Highlights

Baybrook Site Visit

Stefania Staniscia (Mid-Atlantic TAB) traveled to Baltimore, MD with her LARC 450 class on September 3, 2025. The group participated in a brownfield site visit within the Baybrook community and a meeting about site details, led by Action Baybrook.

Action Baybrook’s mission is to improve the safety and well-being of Baybrook residents by drastically reducing the number of vacant and problem properties, tackling public blight, and expanding opportunity. The meeting concluded with a panel discussion with topic experts Sylvia Moser (MD Department of Planning), Paul Hayden (Environmental Engineer), and Katie See (Mid-Atlantic TAB).

The landscape architecture class spent the next two months incorporating information from site inventory and analysis work, including what they learned during the site visit, into preliminary site design ideas. Their designs included an overall plan and smaller-scale designs for the site.
