DC Brownfields 101: Bringing Vacant Buildings Back to Productive Use

Mid-Atlantic TAB conducted two brownfield redevelopment workshops on August 19-20, 2025 at The Riverside Center and Josephine Butler Parks Center. The individuals who attended were very engaged and excited to participate in future redevelopment work.

Event Description

At our introductory Brownfields 101 workshops, attendees learned how to revitalize neglected buildings and turn them into vibrant, community assets. Brownfields redevelopment is for all kinds of stakeholders, including local community members, environmentalists, developers, and property owners. These workshops overviewed the basics of the redevelopment process, free resources and services provided by Mid-Atlantic TAB, funding opportunities (particularly EPA Brownfields Grants), and success stories.
