Elisabeth “Lisa” Orr, ASLA, a professional licensed landscape architect, received her MLA from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002. She has practiced landscape architecture and environmental planning in California, Pennsylvania and West Virginia for nearly 20 years and is Owner and Principal of Radish Studio, a landscape architecture practice in Pittsburgh, PA founded in 2011.
Ms. Orr, a native of West Virginia, joined the faculty of the Landscape Architecture Program at West Virginia University in 2012 and was named Associate Professor in 2018, and Program Coordinator in 2019. Her research investigates cultural landscapes in Appalachia, particularly cemeteries in West Virginia. Through the lens of cultural landscape analysis, Ms. Orr seeks to reveal, interpret and support the preservation of the region’s often overlooked burial landscapes. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) for her work titled “Country Cemeteries and Churchyards: Enduring Cultural Landscapes in Appalachia.”
